Handmade 21st key : Aircraftwoman G H Anderson, Transport Section, RAAF
Description
Handmade key made from thin aircraft plywood is painted a pale yellow colour and features the signatures of the members of the Transport Section. The handle section of the key features the number '21' whilst the other end incorporates the initials 'G A'.
History / Summary
Born in Gilgandra, NSW on 9 July 1924, Gwenoth Hazel Anderson enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on 30 November 1944 at Woolloomooloo in Sydney, NSW. Anderson served as a driver in the Women's Auxiliary Australian Air Force. This handmade 21st birthday key was given to Anderson in 1945 while she was serving as a member of the Transport Section of RAAF Fairbairn, ACT. Anderson received her discharge on 25 February 1946.
