1958-05-05. DETAILED PORT SIDE VIEW OF THE NAVAL TANKER USS KAWISHIWI (AO-146) REFUELLING THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER HMAS MELBOURNE IN THE COURSE OF SEATO EXERCISE OCEAN LINK. NOTE THE REFUELLING EQUIPMENT AND THE TWIN 3 INCH/50 GUNS ON THE TANKER. SPS-10 AND SPS-6 RADARS ARE VISIBLE ON THE FOREMAST. MEMBERS OF THE CARRIER'S CREW ARE RELAXING ON THE FLIGHT DECK UPON WHICH IS SPOTTED A FAIREY GANNET ANTI SUBMARINE AIRCRAFT WITH FOLDED WINGS. NOTE THE TYPES 960 AND 293 RADAR AERIALS ON THE MAST. IN THE FOREGROUND IS A HINGED MAST FROM WHICH ARE SUSPENDED RADIO AERIALS. IT CARRIES A DIRECTION FINDING AERIAL. (NAVAL HISTORICAL COLLECTION)
