Description
"The Gap is bridged" the unit history for the 2/6th Field Company Royal Australian Engineers. Covers their service in West Java and later imprisonment by the Japanese as part of Blackforce in Java, Thailand, Borneo, Saigon, Sumatra and Japan, 1942 to 1945. Appendices include a roll of 2/6th Field Company members in Blackforce, Wattsforce & Robforce and other forces and their dispersal from Java (eg to Thailand, Burma and Borneo). This was published as part of a series "The Purple Diamond" by the 7th Division Engineers Association. Also copies of black and white photographs set up for inclusion in the history include the defence of Java, prisoner of war camps in Thailand & Java (the Cycle Camp), railway cuttings and repatriation.
