Description

Thesis "Don't let Whyalla down : the voluntary war effort in Whyalla 1939-1945". Analyses Whyalla's voluntary war effort, concentrating on two distinct groups and their contributions. The area's established residents and the dispossessed rural population who made Whyalla their home as a result of the depression. Argues that patriotic activity was largely dependent on an individual's attachment to an area and that the sacrifices of the voluntary war effort were unevenly distributed in Australia during WW2. Bachelor of Letters, ANU, 1984.
