Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of Department of Information war correspondent and cameraman, William Carty, Australia and Japan, 1945.
Collection consists of one letter dated 22 February 1998, written by Bill Carty to John Driver, the son of V513234 Pte Roy Driver. The letter refers to the photograph held at AWM2016.855.2 and pictures a gathering of war correspondents being held back by guards while the Japanese Emperor met General MacArthur for the first time in 1945. Both Bill Carty and Roy Driver are identified in the photograph.
