Description
Manuscript written by Ronald Charles Mackenzie, "An ordinary war 1940-1945", based on diaries he kept during the Second World War. Mackenzie documents his training as a wireless air gunner in Australia, Canada and England and his capture by Germans after a forced landing in Holland. Mackenzie describes his internment at Stalag IIIE, Kirchhain Germany, Stalag III, Sagan and Stalag VI, Heydekrug. Topics include attempted escapes, educational classes and attitudes of the guards towards the prisoners.
