Description
Unit diary for 3 Casualty Clearing Station for the period August 1918 to February 1919. Adey details the large number of patients they are receiving daily, the number of mustard gas cases, setting up surgical theatres, the work involved in shifting the CCS to a new locations, the number of German prisoners they are treating, the outbreak of influenza, the inadequate number of surgical team, reprimanding nurses for 'indiscreet talking', and the daily evacuation of large numbers of patients. The diary is not a copy of the 3 CCS war diary and includes descriptions and comments about Adey's work as Commanding Officer for the period.
