Description
Black and white photocopy of 240 page typed manuscript titled "Musing of a Matelot" and written by ex Petty Officer Philip S. Jay to record his service with the Royal Australian Navy. He had hoped to publish this account to coincide with the 75th Anniversary of the RAN. He records his experiences as a trainee on HMAS "Tingira", comments on the cooks and RAN "scran", other aspects of navy life, patrolling, action stations. Then service at Milne Bay, in New Guinea waters, HMAS "Warrego" convoys to Koepang and Amboinia. He also served "Shropshire" and "Warramunga".
