The 1 Divisional Army Aviation Regiment aircraft which will act as support in Exercise Barra Winga in the Shoalwater Bay area arrived at Raspberry Creek on Monday. The unit operating on the exercise is Command and Liaison Flight of the Regiment. The flight comprises five Sioux helicopters and two Cessna light aircraft. They will take part in reconnaissance, liaison and limited supply dropping and casualty evacuation during the exercise. The Cessnas and helcopters flew from their base at Amberly, near Ipswich, Queensland to Raspberry Creek, north of Rockhampton. The flight has its own fire and servicing facilities and routine servicing expected to arise during the exercise will be able to be done in the field. The flight comprises 64 Army and RAAF personnel and Army pilots fly the aircraft.
