Collection relating to Miss Augusta Dora Merewether Busby
Description
An image of members of the 19th Battalion Comforts Fund at work, most looking at their handiwork. A corresponding image (AWM2016.77.3.1) includes the names of the women written in ink on the lower mount and uses an alphabetical code to identify the products of their employment, namely sandbags, knitting, spinning, shirts, parcels and Xmas billy cans. Identified at the spinning wheel is (15) Miss Augusta Dora Merewether Busby, honorary secretary of the 19th Battalion Comforts Fund, who documented many of her activites with the Fund in her personal photograph album. The album and her spinning wheel are both now held in the AWM National Collection at AWM2016.77.2 and AWM2016.77.1.1
