Description

Recording of the song titled 'A perfect day', created as part of the Music and the First World War project with music and lyrics written by Carrie Jacobs-Bond. Produced by Chris Latham, with David Hidden as vocalist (baritone), Andy Hines on cello and Alan Hicks on piano. This recording was made at Flat Rock Studios, Sydney, on 10 December 2018. The work is performed in the spirit of the time with some changes made for the modern ear.

Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'This is a beautiful song and the cello presence really adds to it. The low voice with a low instrument is lovely. The song is about friendship and finding a new friend - a perfect day. It was popular during the First World War and is filled with sentiment. It is a pretty tune that has large jumps in it - intervals of 6ths and 7ths. This makes it more athletic but it doesn't have to be performed by a professional singer - can probably be sung by anyone. This song is a very high degree of quality.'
