[Sound recording] You'd never know that old home town of mine
Description
Recording of the song titled 'You'd Never Know that Old Home Town of Mine', created as part of the Music and the First World War project. Lyrics by Howard Johnson with music by Walter Donaldson. Produced by Chris Latham, with Andrew Goodwin as vocalist and Alan Hicks on piano. This recording was made at Flat Rock Studios, Sydney, on 19 December 2018. The work is performed in the spirit of the time with some changes made for the modern ear.
Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'This song has a 1920s feel that is very syncopated and American sounding. It is a very happy song that makes the statement of someone going home to find everything has changed. It is a fabulous piece of music that is absolutely engaging.'
