Major Bram Connolly
Description
Informal portrait of Major Bram Connolly in Afghanistan. In 2010, Connolly was on his second deployment to Afghanistan on a Special Forces mission in charge of the Yankee Alpha Platoon where he demonstrated exceptional leadership under heavy Taliban fire. During his deployment, he was promoted to Major and in 2012 he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for his actions.
This portrait was created by artist Sam Brooks at his studio in Adelaide using photographic reference material. Brooks is known for large scale realism and mural work and has adapted traditional oil painting methods into a contemporary practice that results in the unique visual effects that his work is known for.
