Exterior portrait of N375766 Private (Pte) Joseph William Edmondson, father of NX15705 Corporal (Cpl) John Hurst Edmondson VC. Cpl Edmondson was the first Australian to be awarded the Victoria Cross in Second World War for his part in a counter-attack against enemy troops at Tobruk in April 1941. Cpl Edmondson died of wounds he sustained in the attack.
