Description

PA1561 Able Seaman Dudley Thurma Goodwin, HMAS Torrens, interviewed by Alison Viney Houghton for her "The Age of Innocence" oral history project. The interview covers Able Seaman Goodwin's RAN service, including topics such as: the HMAS Shropshire; travelling to New York; cleanliness and hygiene; the animosity of the British to the Australians; HMS Arawa; HMAS Kanimbla and Moreton Bay; a naval battle involving the Warramunga and the Arunta; HMAS Bataan in the Philippines; the Elders Welfare Fund; and the signing of the peace treaty.
