Mrs Kathleen Lonergan was involved heavily in the Comforts Fund in Gulgong during the war. She was the President of the Comforts Funds and was involved in fundraising activities such as street stalls, preparing care packages, making pajamas and presenting balls and concerts to raise money. She recalls how some of the young women would bake messaged to the soldiers into the cakes. Her husband was a pilot before the onset of war and was responsible for training pilots. She talks about how her husband would bring them on cross-country flights to her house. She relates how she would bake scones for the pilots and organise for the local girls to come around to talk to the soldiers.
