Description

Land Rover Series 2A with 'Piecart' workshop configuration (back and side panels fold up) and Army registration number 113 852. It is missing spark leads, towing hook, air cleaner, tactical sign holders, has no tools or accessories, and the left tail light is broken. The exterior is painted in the original UN white paint, but the UN markings have been removed. It has been fitted with a replacement engine (engine number 25244400).

History / Summary

This vehicle first entered service on 30 August 1966. From 1979 until 1992 it served with 17 Construction Squadron (Sqn) Workshop, Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME).

From 1989 to 1990 it was used by 17 Sqn as part of the United Nations Transitional Assistance Group (UNTAG) in Namibia. UNTAG was established in April 1989 to supervise elections and the withdrawal of South African forces to assist Namibian independence. During service in Nambia this vehicle was used as a Forward Repair Task vehicle.
