Oral history interview with Warrant Officer Class 2 Janine Orgill of the Australian Army and Chief Clerk of the Multinational Force and Observer group (MFO) in the Arab Republic of Egypt in 2019. Interview with Dr Aaron Pegram of the Australian War Memorial at South Camp, Sharm-El-Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt, 7 November 2019. Topics include: growing up in Whanganui NZ, family military experiences, enlisting in the Australian Army as a Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME) and Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps (RAAOC) Clerk, overview to 30 year military career, and two deployments to MFO (2006-07, 2019). First deployment as Chief Clerk to the Australian Contingent commander subsequent Force Commander’s Executive Assistant, experiences during first MFO deployment including multinational force losses, travelling to Beersheba and Romani battlefield sites, impressions of life in Egypt, overview of Force Chief Clerk position for second MFO deployment, including administrative tasks, access passes, honours and awards, certificate of service for all multinational force members, tempo of life on base at MFO South Camp Sharm-el-Sheikh, socialising with other multinational contingents, working with the Egyptians and Bedouins, plans on returning home, thoughts on the Australian War Memorial and future displays.
