UK. C. 1943-06. 404684 Squadron Leader (Sqn Ldr) W. W. Blessing DSO DFC of Braidwood, NSW (right), with Sqn Ldr P. J. Channer DFC, RAF. Sqn Ldr Blessing was awarded the DSO on 1943-06-17 for the part he played in the raid on the Zeiss and Schoot and Genossen optical instruments works at Jena, Germany on 1943-05-27, when he led a Mosquito No. 105 Squadron RAF, over strongly defended areas and difficult terrain to press home a low-level attack with great vigour.
