Interview with Commander Office of 1 Australian Civil Affairs Unit DPR/TV/1037
Description
The Commanding Officer of the 1st Australian Civil Affairs Unit in Vietnam, Lieutenant-Colonel K. W. Latchford was interviewed at Long Toan village by Major E. Ross-Smith recently. Lieutenant-Colonel Latchford in reply to questions, gave an outline of the work undertaken by his unit which is part of the 1st Australian Task Force, operating out of Nui Dat. The unit co-ordinates all Army civil affairs work in the Australian area of responsibility in South Vietnam. This has included work on schools, libraries, market complexes and water reticulation windmills - all built to assist the South Vietnamese villagers.
