Northern France, c. 1917. 4871 Sapper John Weatherup Lenegan MM, a bugler with the 2nd Divisional Signals Company, 1st AIF, playing his bugle while the unit mascot, a rooster named "Jack" or "Jackie", sits on the instrument. The unit had brought the animal from Egypt in 1916 when it was still a chicken. (Donor B. Garcia)
