Description
Amiens area, France, 1918. The cross marking the grave in the cemetery of 1340 Private (Pte) William H. Botsford, a runner or messenger with the 14th Battalion, 1st AIF, who died of wounds on 1916-07-03 aged 22 years. Below the cross is a framed memorial picture featuring at the top a studio portrait photograph of Pte Botsford flanked by motifs of a ? eucalyptus leaf and boomerang, while at the bottom is a representation of the Australian continent; in the middle is an inscription which reads: "In loving memory of Pte W. H. Botsford, 14th Battalion, A.I.F."
