HMA ships Melbourne and Parramatta entering the Bay only days before the collision between the Australian aircraft carrier Melbourne and the American destroyer USS Frank E Evans on 1969-06-03 in the South China Sea. Seen on the flight deck of HMAS Melbourne are the Skyhawk aircraft of No. 805 Squadron RAN, the Tracker aircraft of No. 816 Squadron and the Wessex aircraft of No. 817 Squadron.
