France. C. 1944-08. RAF Lancasters and Halifaxes of RAF Bomber Command over the enemy lines near Caen in early morning. They bombed enemy armour from a height of 2,000 feet, coming down through low cloud to make the attack. Smoke can be seen rising from the target area.
