Description

Julich was attacked by RAF Bomber Command to give direct close support to the American ground forces. Massive damage was caused in the attack in which aircraft of Nos 462 and 466 Squadrons RAAF took part. The town centre was completely destroyed and the main road over the River Ruhr (extreme right) was half destroyed. Many buildings were still burning when this photograph was secured.
