RAF Station Shawbury, Shropshire, England. 1945-05-26. The modified Lancaster aircraft "Aries" returned to its base at Shawbury, Salop, after a series of flights over the geographic and magnetic North Poles. The flights were planned by the Empire Air Navigation School at Shawbury, and the captain of the "Aries" was Wing Commander D. C. McKinley DFC AFC.
