Collection relating to the First World War service of 6692 Sapper Sydney Dobson, 1 Light Railway Operating Company, France, 1917.

Wallet 1 of 1 - Consists of one handwritten letter, dated 1 June 1917, from Sapper Dobson to his brother Tom. Dobson writes of, and includes the designs for, trench art letter openers he had planned to make from French cartridge cases and German artillery shells salvaged from the battlefield near Butte de Warlencourt. Dobson also discusses the recent attack at Bapaume and his work with the 1st Light Railway Operating Company.
