Front view of destroyed DAP Beaufighter aircraft A8-129 (coded SK-X) of 93 Squadron RAAF, which crash landed at Labuan airstrip on return from a leaflet dropping operation over north-west Borneo at 1645 hours on 16 August 1945. The aircraft had appeared to approach the airstrip too slowly and steeply; the port wing dropped and after an attempt at recovery the aircraft stalled at low altitude, crashing 300 yards off the south-east end of the airstrip. The pilot 415971 W/O J. H. (Johnny) Ellers received a fractured rib and lacerations to the left leg and left eyelid. The navigator 425287 W/O A.C. Dunn received multiple abrasions.
