Description
Villawood, NSW. c. 1944. Two women operate a machine (detoluator) at the Commonwealth Explosives Factory. The machine was probably involved in the production of nitric acid for use in explosives manufacture. The original caption reads `The left hand operative is controlling the temperature in the Detolulator tin which acidic MNT is converted into DNT. The right hand operative is adding a pre-determined quantity of nitric acid to the charge in the nitrating vessel'.
