Description
Manuscript about Beaufort Torpedo bombers and crew members of 8 Squadron, RAAF No. 9 Operational Group, under control of Fifth American Air Force. Describes operational training at Bairnsdale, Nowra, Canberra, Bohle River, and Goodenough Island. Detailed account of torpedo attack, launched against Japanese Naval vessels in the Simpson's Harbour and Keravia Bay area near Rabaul, on 9th November 1943. Mentions Air Commodore Hewitt, Commanding Officier of 8 Sqn Wing Commander Geoffrey Nicholl, and crew members involved in the attack. Also describes attack made on 4th December in Rabaul Habour. Includes copies of maps and photograph.
