From ship to shore DPR/TV/275
Troops of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, and of the 2nd Field Troop, Royal Australian Engineers, returned to Malaya last weekend (July 31 1965) after four months in Sarawak. From the aircraft carrier HMS Albion, the troops were loaded by platoons into assault landing craft and lowered to the water. Four landing craft were used continuously in the move of troops from the carrier to the shore near Malacca. During the move, the Commanding Officer of the Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel B. A. McDonald, came aboard and was met by the Captain of the Albion, Captain J. Adams. Lieutenant Colonel McDonald had flown from Kuching to Malacca the previous day. On shore wives and children eagerly awaited the arrival of their husbands and fathers. One boy's eagerness had to be restrained, but for most it was a quiet and happy home-coming.
