Murray, Ken (Private, b.1899 - d.1937)
Letters, account written after the war also two manuscripts titled `Ken Murray in World War 1' and `Ken Murray's mates in World War 1', thoughtful discussions prepared by Murray's son, based on above original material. Papers describe enlistment in 1917, training in England, leave in London and Belfast, meeting an Australian nurse, movements in France, and being wounded at Amiens. Describes stages of medical care, from the stretcher bearer to the 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital in Harefield. Also affectionate descriptions of friends Sister Bernice Collopy, Stiffy Barry, Allan Sinclair, and Horrie Gent. Several later letters indicate post-war life. The collection also includes a typed, bound and illustrated transcript of Murray's war journal (1918) and a dinner menu.
