Description

Manuscript titled `Mirror of time 1939-1945' describes reasons for enlisting, service with 2/32 Battalion in Palestine, Tobruk (discussing action on the Salient, engagements with Germans, air raids by stukas) and Palestine. Joins Field Security Wing of 1st Australian Intelligence Corps, and serves attached to varius units throughout remaining war years. Describes role of FSW, duties at Tripoli, Safita, Battle of El Alamein, LWOP on compassionate grounds in Australia, action at Lae, Red Beach, Ramu Valley, altendance at School of Military Intelligence, and American Counter Intelligence Corps School in Hollandia, Morotai, allied landing at Balikpapan. Discusses effect of war on human spirit, experiences due to being of Italian descent, attitude towards Americans in Aust., misconceptions about the Japanese, difficulties of tropical warfare, and gives strong opinions about the dropping of the atomic bomb.
