Kalai Plantation, Wide Bay, New Britain, 1944-11-06. Aerial view, taken from aft the bomb bay of a Bristol Beaufort bomber of No. 6 Squadron RAAF, showing 250-pound bombs it has just released falling towards the coast of New Britain. The aircraft is one of 23 Beauforts, including eleven from No. 6 Squadron and six each from Nos. 8 and 100 Squadrons RAAF, that are carrying out a raid on Japanese positions at Kalai Plantation. The Beauforts from No. 6 Squadron have flown from their base at Vivigani airfield on Goodenough Island.
