Description
Manuscript titled `My wartime story 1937-45', covers duties in Australia with 41st Battalion CMF, then experiences in New Guinea with 53rd Battalion, and still later with New Guinea Force. Includes section titled `The early days of supply dropping in New Guinea', prepared from interviews with Captain Whiston of HQ New Guinea Force and later NGF Air Transport Control. Covers 1942-43 period, describing initial difficulties with `Biscuit bombing', introduction of supply dropping parachutes, evacuations of wounded men from Myola, casualties, and dangers to both air crews and ground staff.
