Description
Gallipoli, Turkey, 1915. A French soldier who has suffered a wound to his left leg or foot lies on a stretcher at Cape Helles while, crouching on the ground (centre), a medical orderly wearing a Red Cross armband dresses the wound. Several other French soldiers look on, of whom the three standing (left) are also distinguished as medics by their Red Cross armbands. One of the medics (centre) is holding open a chart. A soldier wearing a pith helmet (left) is writing notes in a pad, while the patient himself is holding a small card.
