Samarrah (Samarra), Mesopotamia. 1917-11. Horse lines of a camp of the 1st Cavalry Divisional Signal Squadron sheltered by a dry canal from observation by the Turks. In the middle distance beneath the signal flag (coloured blue and white) are the motorbikes of the despatch rider section. They were on operations with other units of the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force in the Tekrit area.
