Description

Portrait of the racehorse "Kaviscal", owned by Mr J. Glovers, trained by Mr N. Scanlon and ridden by the jockey S. Parker. The horse's name was derived from parts of the names of three AANS sisters who were captured at Rabaul in January 1942 and spent three years as Prisoners of War (POW) in Japan. The three were Captain Kay Parker ARRC ("KA"), Lieutenant Mavis Cullen ("VIS") and Lieutenant Eileen Callaghan ("CAL").
