Description

Pillowcase made from two RAF issue, acetate escape maps sewn together at the long vertical axis. Both the maps are the same, being 'SHEET A / INDIA (PART OF) / BURMA (NORTH WEST)'. The reverse of each map is 'SHEET B / BURMA (NORTH EAST) / SIAM (THAILAND) (NORTH) / FRENCH INDO CHINA (PART OF) / CHINA (PART OF). Scale is 1:1,000,000 (1 inch = 15.78 miles). The publisher and date are not stated.

History / Summary

Part of an escape kit issued to 422821 Warrant Officer G E Watson, RAAF, while he was serving with 62 Squadron RAF from April to October 1945. After the war Watson's wife sewed the maps together to make a pillow slip. The other parts of the escape kit are at REL25118 and REL25120.
