History / Summary

Sixty seven Australian Government officers, including 44 Australian Electoral Commission officers, served as UNTAC International Polling Station Officers (IPSOs) during the Cambodian elections of May 1993. This pennant was taken to Cambodia by Mr Ron Aumann, of the AEC, who arranged for the AEC IPSOs to sign the pennant while they were being trained at Jomtien, Thailand, before the group was split up for deployment in Cambodia. The pennant was flown from the flagpole at Prem Ang elementary school, in Cambodia, the location of the polling station to which Mr Aumann was appointed.
