Description
South Vietnam. 1968-11. 53015 Staff Sergeant (SSgt) William (Bill) James Scott of Palmyra, WA, was clearing five foot high kunai grass to set up camp during Operation Capital when he discovered the grave of an elderly Vietnamese who died in 1960 when the area was a thriving coffee plantation. SSgt Scott clears the grave using a shovel. The operation was a reconnaissance in force through the Thua Tich area, about twelve miles north-east of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) Base at Nui Dat. Staff Sergeant Scott is a member of the 104th Field Battery, Royal Australian Artillery (RAA).
