Description

South Vietnam. 1970-01. Soldiers on patrol from the 8th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (8RAR), force their way through thick jungle, during Operation Atherton, in southern Long Khanh Province. Leading is Private Colin Oliver of Ashgrove, Qld, a member of D Company. Behind him is an engineer attached to the company, Sapper Colin Healy of Liverpool, NSW. The operation, the first for the Brisbane based Battalion, began in 1969-12-10 and so far has been centred in Phuoc Tuy and neighbouring Long Khanh Province.
