Description
Long Binh, South Vietnam. July 1971. Sergeant (Sgt) Ed Fenton of Parramatta, NSW (right), rolls some dough in an American mess at Long Binh. He is watched by Sgt Bob Randal of Puckapunyal, Vic (left), and Sgt First Class (SFC) Ed Shepherd, a black American mess supervisor. The two Australian sergeants, both cooks at the 1st Australian Logistic Support Group (1ALSG) in Vung Tau, worked with SFC Shepherd's mess for two weeks as part of an exchange scheme between the catering services of the two armies. Two American cooks worked at 1ALSG during the same period.
