Nui Dat, South Vietnam. July 1971. During his twelve day visit to South Vietnam, the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) M. F. Brogan, presented Long Service and Good Conduct Medals to eight senior non-commissioned officers at the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) at Nui Dat. Warrant Officer Class 1 A. H. McConnell of Coolaroo, Vic (right), Artificer Sergeant Major of the 106th Field Workshops, Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME), has the medal pinned to his chest by Lt Gen Brogan.
