A group of Australian soldiers who had been wounded taking part in attacks at Lone Pine on 6 and 7 August 1915. The man in the centre with his head bandaged is Lieutenant (later Captain) Malcolm John Bernard Cotton. Captain Cotton was killed in action on 24 July 1916.
