NEW GUINEA. DESPITE BOTH ELEVATORS BEING BADLY DAMAGED BY ACK ACK FIRE AND SHRAPNEL HAVING TORN THE TYRES OF BOTH LANDING WHEELS TO THE CANVAS, A FLYING FORTRESS WAS FLOWN 400 MILES TO ITS BASE IN NEW GUINEA, AND LANDED SAFELY.
