Air Force Cadet Training. Leo Gibney conforms to RAAF requirements. Now Cadet Gibney, he is issued with a uniform which he will wear while on Air Training Corps duty. Leo Gibney enlisted in RAAF on 29 May 1942 and trained as a Wireless Air Gunner before embarking for the United Kingdom in May 1943 where he served in 218 Squadron flying in Stirling and Lancaster aircraft. He was promoted through the ranks to Warrant Officer before receiving his Commission in November 1944. Flying Officer Gibney returned to Australia in July 1945 for discharge on 4 September 1945.
