Anderson, Wallace (Artist, b.1888 - d.1975)
Description
Two original manuscripts by Australian artist Wallace Anderson: untitled autobiography, written circa 1972 (104pp) and essay-style script titled "Future of the National Gallery of Melbourne"(35pp). The letter is written to Professor Titterton, of the Nuclear Physics section at the National University (later known as Australian National University), dated 1 June 1964, giving clear indications of Anderson's personal views on creativity at a late stage in his life. As a sculptor, Anderson made major contributions to the Australian War Memorial and is most famous for his "Simpson and the donkey" sculpture in Melbourne.
