Alexandria, Egypt. c 1915. Portrait of Lieutenant Colonel (later Brigadier General) J. G. Austin CB CMG, astride his horse. He was the Director of Ordnance Services, 1st Anzac Corps from 1915 to 1916. The horse and tent lines of Mena Camp are behind him. Note the hay bales stacked up to the left, and the photographer's shadow in the sand. This is one half of a stereo image. The full image is held at C05285A.
