A cross and wreath mark the grave in the Moascar War Cemetery, Plot 4, Row D, Grave 3, of 404059 Sergeant (Sgt) William Coxon Russell, RAAF pilot, of No. 229 Squadron RAF, who died 16 May 1942. Sgt Russell's promotion to Flying Officer had probably not reached his unit before his time of death. He was the son of Dr Eustace Russell, and Alice Maud Russell, of Labrador, Qld. Moascar War Cemetery is situated just off the main Ismailia-Cairo road.
